In Senegal, certain information is mandatory, such as the statement – in French – “Vendu au Sénégal” (“to be sold in Senegal“) to be affixed to cigarettes, food products, batteries, and spirits authorized for sale by the government.

Other markings are not mandatory by regulation but are essential for tracking your products. For example, adding tracking indicators will facilitate insurance claims if abnormal stress has been exerted on a fragile product. Additionally, it seems inconceivable to transport perishable goods or pharmaceutical products without equipping the truck or container with a temperature recorder

Customs Duties and Taxes in Senegal

Senegal is part of the ECOWAS customs union (the Economic Community of West African States). The applicable taxes and customs duties are therefore based on the ECOWAS CET (Common External Tariff). In addition, domestic taxes apply, such as an 18% VAT, excise duties, an import levy on certain food products, and surcharges on alcohol and cigarettes, among others.

If the customs value of your goods is less than 200,000 CFA Francs, you can declare them yourself or use our services for your Senegal freight.
